| 2026-11-03 09:49 | Lambonuke | well it definitely shifts the tax burden onto residential homeowners and local businesses |
| 2026-11-03 09:49 | Ppl | anyways. a state constitutional amendment feels like a heavy handed way to provide relief like that. |
| 2026-11-03 09:48 | Ppl | 2.3% of farm / timber holdings have over 2000 acres in GA, which account for 32% of all farmland in GA. So, still kinda feels like it benefits the few at the expense of the many. |
| 2026-11-03 09:46 | Ppl | oh Jake Paul has a GA ranch that has 5,746 acres. |
| 2026-11-03 09:43 | Wreck | Thanks Sum |
| 2026-11-03 09:43 | Ppl | also, I never thought of the timber land being considered "a farm" - but I can see how the language might allow that. |
| 2026-11-03 09:43 | Lambonuke | well supporters argue that large family-owned agricultural and timber operarations face soaring equipment, labor and input cost, and higher acreage caps would help prevent large multi-generation or high yield farm tracts from being sold off to commercial developers |
| 2026-11-03 09:42 | Ppl | someone mentioned it could benefit hedge fund owned land that rents to farmers - which just feels like modern day serfdom to me with a fancy name. |
| 2026-11-03 09:41 | Lambonuke | probably raising the cap primarily benefits very large landowners or corporate/timber holdings |
| 2026-11-03 09:39 | Ppl | GA (where I am) has this amendment for farmers, a property tax relief program - from farms with 2000 acres to farms with 4000 acres. The avg farm in GA has 253 acres. so.. ah.. this is not for the "common farmer" huh? |
